Our vineyard and the terroir of Île d'Orléans

Driven by our love of wine and our recognition of a promising wine-growing landscape, we embarked on the adventure of northern viticulture in 2013, with the desire to create wines deeply rooted in this magnificent place.

The island benefits from a favorable microclimate. The St. Lawrence River moderates temperatures, protecting the vines from spring and fall frosts. Natural ventilation limits disease pressure, while the snow cover provides essential protection against the cold of our Quebec winters.

The island is also distinguished by its diverse soil types. Our vineyards alternate between loamy-clay and sandy soils, resting on outcrops of schist and sandstone. This mosaic of soil types shapes, in its own way, the character of our grapes and wines.

Each vintage offers a new opportunity to learn from this terroir, to refine our winemaking approach, and to create wines meant to be enjoyed and shared.

Our Philosophy

We believe that a large part of winemaking takes place in the vineyard through the mastery of technical skills. That is where it all begins. Every action, no matter how mundane it may seem, influences the vineyard’s balance and the quality of its grapes. We have therefore chosen to work on small surfaces so that we can devote constant attention to each parcel and every task.

We prioritize quality over quantity and view yield management as a fundamental tool for ensuring an expressive harvest.

In our view, there is no hierarchy among grape varieties: complementarity and harmony with the terroir are key. We primarily grow hybrid grape varieties suited to our northern climate. In addition, Pinot Gris is playing an increasingly important role in our vineyard.

Our approach is rooted in integrated viticulture. Every decision aims to bring out the best in the grapes we work so hard to cultivate and to ensure the long-term health of our land. We are constantly reflecting on how to improve our practices. Balance guides our choices.

This approach has one goal: to create authentic wines, made for enjoyment and sharing. It is the mission that drives us, vintage after vintage.

A Family Business

The Blouin-Grégoire family

Behind the vineyard is, above all, a family driven by a love for the land and Île d’Orléans. Each member contributes their strengths in a spirit of collaboration. Christiane, warm and unifying, is at the heart of the vineyard’s hospitality. Her authentic approach brings a friendly and welcoming atmosphere to the vineyard. Jacques, an engineer by profession, uses his meticulousness, his knack for numbers, and his talent as a builder to ensure the vineyard is built on a solid foundation. Patrick, a graduate in viticulture and oenology from Alsace, constantly reflects on our practices, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, to help our wines reach their full potential.

The demands of northern viticulture require true teamwork. We are privileged to be able to count on a dedicated and skilled team, which is essential to bringing our vision to life.
